Vatf dilema

So my vatf is about 14 inches and hes in a 270 6x3x2..... other ocupants are

13 inch bd ray
14 inch juruense catfish
9-10 inch tat payara x3
5 inch tiger SDs x6

He seems to be doing ok for now but i feel as if he needs more space and i am debating moving him into the 600. Hes non aggressive eatting pellets and ocasionally shrimp and tilapia

In my 600 i have

16 inch spotted gar
16 inch silver arowana
14 inch oxydoras niger
12 inch temensis bass
11 inch mono bass
10 inch orino bass
10 inch golden keleberi bass
9 inch azul bass
9 inch keleberi bass
8 inch ocellaris bass
5 inch thinbar sd x4
6-7 inch widebar sds x3
7 inch tinfoil barbs x3

The bass seem to fight among themselves dont even chase the tinfoil barbs or sds

Gar is also mellow and keeps to himself.



For all you experienced keepers would you move him to the 600? Or leave him in the 270?

I'd say the more room the better so go with the 600g. You do already have a lot of fish in there though. Do you plan on keeping everyone in there?

It may seem like a lot of fish in the 600 but considering 10 are smaller dithers its not as much as u think..... even the widebars have had a slow growth rate.....worse comes to worse i would downsize on dithers...... water quality is not an issue with a large drip and 8-10x turnover rate for filteration.

And its open only substrate

The 600 is 8x4x2.5

Ill try to post some tommorow.... thanks for ur input....i just wasnt sure if i should be expecting any fighting if i moved him into the 600. What tankmates are u keeping with ur vatf?

More space is always a good thing. The peacocks aren't big yet and in general I think vatfs are aggressive enough to hold their own. 600 is way more swimming room.

Wow fourteen inches!....somehow I don't think this is the same one that you were offering for free with purchase.Anyhow I agree with Greenrinks.
