Most likely Hydrocynus cf big eye, though at that size, even I can have trouble telling them apart from only a cell phone pic.

Also, there are no tatf in the hobby. Please reference the sticky as to why.

No he's not, and he knows it. Trust me on this lol. Wes is my partner in crime on ATF stuff, and the guy who provided reliable collection location data to prove without a doubt that there are not tatf in the hobby.

He calls them tatf because that's what the hobby knows them as. In his ad he sells them as "Hydrocynus big eye cf. Tanzaniae".

Cf. means conferatur, Latin for "similar to". The way this is used in biology is that, for this fish in question; it is a member of the genus Hydrocynus, similar to a tanzaniae. That little cf. changes everything.

So he lied to me i asked if they were big eye or true tatf and he told me tatf. That's alarming being lied to by a vendor. Saddens me. I guess i would have been stooped had u went through with my purchase.

Those fish are what the hobby incorrectly calls tatf. Wes didn't lie to you, you're getting the fish that everyone calls tatf. If someone asks for a tatf, this is the fish they will get. If you read his post, he clearly has them labelled as cf. tanzaniae, which means "similar to tanzaniae". You're not able to accuse him of lying.
