VATF or TATF?

Value doesn't really change V or T they're worth about the same..... I've seen them cheap as $100 up to pushing $200 for that size.

Based on the face I'd have to agree it looks more V then T but the angle makes it tough to tell.

Do you know who brought it in? Most of the time that can help figure out what it is, as others from the same batch may have been ID'd already.

It came in at a LFS. They had it for two months. They ordered it, not sure from where, let's just say I was surprised to see it proudly displayed at my LFS for just $99.

Wow. A LFS that has Dorado and ATF? I'd never dream of seeing something like that......

Hopefully you're speaking in past tense cause it now resides at your place. ;)

Seems there's been a wave of Vs lately. :( Really wish Ts were easier to find.....

Tricky this one is.

The all black adipose is clearly diagnostic of a TATF. However, it just LOOKS like a VATF, but with fish this closely related that certainly isn't diagnostic. From my phone, I can't discern the number of scales between the LL and pelvic fin insertion; I'll check back later from my PC. The tail looks a little more like what I'd expect from a TATF as opposed to a VATF, but again, that isn't a proper diagnostic trait.

I am leaning toward TATF on this one as the only clear diagnostic trait is that of a TATF. I would like a few more pictures that will hopefully clarify the situation as this could still go either way.

Maybe the angle makes its snout look shorter then it really is? I say V cause of the head shape.

I couldn't really tell Ts and Vs apart even having both species in the same house. BUT after having them in the same tank it's crazy how much different they look. The Ts have a much larger almost horse like head.
