I got an offer buy a 28cm VATF and a 25cm tatauaia, fairly rare fish here in Sweden so I'm reluctant to pass up on the offer.
Here's the problem at hand: I have a 13ish cm Nile perch and a 23cm leichardti in the same tank that they will be going in to. I'm concerned that the Nile may get eaten and the lei smashed by the ATF (silvery fishes eyc).

What do you guys think, should I pull the trigger?

Regards

The tat is a silvery kind of fish also. The perch is lunch if you don't relocate into a different tank. The other 3 are of similar size and should do good together.

I'd also be concerned with the growth rates. I think Nile Perch grow pretty fast but the VATF is really slow.

From past experience they are fairly slow growers, unless they have access to loads of live food.
The growth rate on the one I had earlier was "dat-slow" even tho it was on pellets and all kinds of frozen foods, the same goes for this one.

The problem is that I don't have access to a spare tank. If I decide to go ahead I may just put in a divider or something until the perch catches up some what.

Ye so, I chickened out. It's going to take to darn long for my perch to put on the needed size and I don't want my tank to look like crap for the duration cuz of the divider.
The guy that was selling them offered me a 20cm TAT, going to pick him up in a couple of days. I'll post some pictures when I get him :)

Just a pair of crappy pics of the new arrivals, I ended up getting the VATF as well (couldn't resist!).
No problems so far, the lei gave them a bit of a beating but gave up after 40secs when it realized that it wasn't dealing with food (it tries to kill everything that goes in the tank, fish, pipes, hands etc).

The fun part was that the perch I was worried about started chasing them around so it should be fine :)
