hey everyone,
just lost all my beautiful synspilums to winter storm alfred and now looking to make my 125 a hap tank. thinking about vc 10s with orange fin borleyi and possibly a peacock or two. guys at the lfs are pretty knowledgable about cichlids and seem to think they would do fine. just wanted to get some opinions on whether or not anyone thinks this can work long term.. thanks

You could do a group of each - something like 1M/3F in the long run. They should not interbreed if you keep a decent ratio. VC-10s grow slow and are not all that aggressive. Male borleyis, on the other hand, can get quite rough.

thanks for the replies. i did end up getting four of each and we will see what kind of male to female ratio there is as they grow out. they are all under 2 inches right now so tough to tell just based on looks. also picked up a yellow labid and red zebra for a little extra color. i know mixing haps and mbuna is a no no but i figured just a couple wouldn't hurt.
