I’m currently treating a zebrina pike for velvet disease and wondering anyone’s experience with this disease? I originally thought it was ich and treated with an increased of temp to 86 plus 3ppt of salt. When I realized I wasn’t dealing with ich, I was recommended cupramine. I did a 50% water change prior to the medication to reduce the salinity in the tank and reduced the temp down to 81. I also removed the carbon as specified. The pike is still aggressively feeding and so are the tankmates. I saw the velvet had spread to two of the tankmates but now I can no longer see any infection on them. The zebrina however is still clearly infected to the point where I can’t tell if there’s any improvement.
The zebrina either carried the disease in as I failed to qt or was very stressed from import/tank cycling, likely both. The treatment is 48 hours in (just re-dosed) and lights have stayed off. I removed the plants as the salt/temp/meds killed them. Is there anything else I can do or signs to look for in treating this?
