I have had a very small clown pleco in my 125 for a very long time. None of the fish pay him any mind. So I thought I would get 3 bn plecos to help keep algae off the rocks.

Those were the most expensive feeders I ever bought! They lasted a few days, but once the Venezuela pike figured out they could be used as food, they had no prayer. It is weird that the clown pleco is still fine. He is a tad smaller than the bn's.

I couldn't get mad at the Ven though, because it is such a sweet fish! Such a huge appetite and fast growth rate.

Bummer dude. Normally pikes won't mess with plecos, but if they are hungery enough, you never know what they will try to eat. I've had mine eat an arowana that was half their size before, not happy to say the least....:(

Bristle nose is Narrower, whereas the Clown is wider. Who knows maybe he already had a try and
did not like the taste. haha

I've had several similar incidents. At one point I had some Panaque sp. 'LDA01's. Awesome plecs. One day after about two years cohabitation, my devil/jag hybrid ate them. Another time, I had a school of large Brochis(3") in with several beasts, including a jag. They were fine. I decided to try my pictus cats(>6") with this group. The next day, one was dead, and another was stuck in the jags mouth. It sucks to cut a live pet fish apart in order to remove it from another fishes mouth.

I guess he only ate 2 of them. I spotted the third one today. I guess I shouldn't plan on him lasting long though.
