Hey all. I've got a 9" female venezuelan who is doing awesome (she eats anything I put in the tank, and gets along fine with everybody as well). She is currently in a 125g tank, although I'm hoping to upgrade to something around 200-300g next summer.

I was just wondering if there are any other pikes that be compatible with my ven? Or is she likely to just beat the living heck out of any other pike I drop in the tank, unless its bigger than her?

Thanks,
Conner

p.s.- I'd love to find a male to go with her, but I can't seem to find any. If anyone has a lead for 8-10" male ven's, let me know!

So nobody wants to touch this? Dang, at least shoot me down as say "heck no, she'll kill whatever poor sod you toss in there!" or something like that.... :)

IMHO they are too unpredictable, if you have a spare large tank, give it a shot. . . I have a 12" boy, wish I had known, I could have brought him with to ACA LOL

Its definitely iffy at best. Generally you don't see venz. sold at sucha large size, although they are out there. Perhaps go to buy/sell and post a WTB thread. ;)

Being that she is already established her territory in the tank, and has been there so long, adding any other pikes would be hit and miss at best. Chances are though that she will just beat the snot outa any pike you add, regardless of size.

It could also throw off the whole balance in your tank. Fish that used to get along, might not so much any more. Tis a tough gamble to make. If I were you though, I'd go for it. :) Make sure you have a spare tank handy first though. ;)

Well, I have a 55g that has some gar growouts in it, but that's as big as I have. I don't want to get another pike that's gonna be monster unless it will get along with my ven. I wish I could find a nice male for her. Although then they'd probably murder everything else in the tank if they ever spawned.

I'll just keep an eye out, and if I find a male ven, maybe I'll try it. :)

I have a 9" venz right now. I would also like to get another but mine is a mean SOB - flares up to chase away anything that comes near his stump.
