Venezuelan rays

true hystrix is out of columbia.... retics would look the same as others.... there are pictures of hystrix on here use the search feature....I think its big daves rays that has them...

I tought true Hystrix was only in Bresil. I know what they are and that's why i was asking if anyone knows or have pictures of that ray they call Hystrix in Venezuela.
 
sorry i meant brazil brain fart was thinking brazil and looking at columbian rays
 
Yes they come from Columbiathere is someone on aquabid that has been for sale and there is a picture there also

And I always thought, that the real Pot. hystrix which was described first as this species, would have come from Argentina :D
 
Hi all...
I´m from Venezuela, and i have to say that the rays we usually found in our southern / central rivers and lagoons are a way differente from the P. histrix i have in the Aqualog´s R. Ross guide. They are more like P. reticulata but not exactly. They have shorter tails. I´ve caught identified for sure P. yepezi, P. magdalenae, P. orbignyi and P. schroederi but i´ve found maybe 50 that you cant tell what the **** is this. Next time i go home (i live in Spain) i´ll take some pics of my scientific-fishing journeys.
