I am planning on getting some arboreal vipers soon so I decided to go ahead and build a nice (and safe) enclosure for them. I got this cage at the daytona show for a steal and have made a few adjustments starting with the driftwood that I glued down with silicone. I also glued the screen top on to make sure that it is nice and secure.

after waiting for the silicone to dry, I wanted to make a naturalistic background. I used a mix of peat moss, concrete primer, and water at a ratio of 8:1:1 and matted it down as tight as I could to make sure it dries properly and does not crack.

to make sure that nothing can get out and no one can get in, I secured the front sliding panels. I took a piece of the adhesive Velcro and cut it to length. This closes the gap between the panes of glass. I also left room for a jewle's lock.

2 things - One, replace the Screen with Plexi, and two, I wouldn't make any potential perch fixed. Removable perches work out the best in the long run, and are a whole lot safer when dealing with venomous..........

I am going to be adding a plastic pegboard over the screen top and I prefer the look of the one fixed ledge although all of the other perches will be removable

just really take the time to consider the risk's of housing a venous snake but it sounds like your taking the time to secure the living space now you need some hook's and gear to protect you. Because it sucks being poisoned or bite

in order to keep venomous in FL, I had to go through 1000hours of hands on training, have 3 letters of recommendation written by other licensed keepers and have all facilities inspected by an FWC agent. I have been working with venomous for the last 3 years, they are my true passion, more than turtles and lizards. I have plenty of hooks and have contacted the local Shands hospital here to let them know that I will be keeping exotic venomous here and may need antivenin from Miami-Dade's Venom One.
I am ready and I can't wait to get my first hot herp, they can be so much more beautiful than other snakes....

And while your at it, you may wanna make sure that you don't have any allergic reaction to the antivenom :nilly: because if you do, it won't matter if they have it in stock or not, it won't be doing you any good.
