I have been trying to determine if I have males or females (fossorochromis rostratus) for a while. I have had them for 10 months now, all 5 bought at about 1inch. The largest two are 7inches and 6.5inches. They have no displayed any change in color until last weekend I saw one look darker shaded. It was like that for two days. They are not the dominant fish so I know they may never show best colors but they are starting to become bigger no one messes with them. Below are vent pics of the largest two. I have never done this before but think I see one female and one male. Can you please take a look and let me know your opinion. I appreciate any opinions. kno4te, thanks for the quick reply. Do you think both look female? The top picture looks more oo than the bottom Oo, but as stated I have never done this. Is there something else you look at besides size?
