Venting question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fish in the first two pictures is definitely a female. Hard to believe the third and fourth pictures are of the same fish. Fish in the third picture is a female. In the fourth picture, the vent size does not look much larger than the anus, leading one to believe it is a male. Could be the camera angle. But if the third and fourth pictures are of the same fish, it is a female.

Hmmmmm....thanks guys....yeah Joe the 3rd and 4th are the same fish. Both fish are A.Lyonsi. If you guys are saying both are female i might just have to go with that. I posted this because neither fish show the black in the dorsal which i thought was a female characteristic. I have read that this is not always true so i figured venting was the only sure way to tell. Heres a full body shot of the fish in the first pic

Not all females have the black on the dorsal fin.

You're absolutely right. I just didnt think i'd end up with two that didnt show it. Just watching their behavior with one another i thought one would be a male. Guess the search for a male begins...lol
