Hi, I just purchased 2 caribe there prob around 4 Inch, 1 of them is missing Ventral Fins, It appears also that at some point there may have been a injury in that area, the low part of the fish looks a little off but I am not sure. Will the fish do ok missing these fins? What are they for? Thanks

P.S do things like this grow back?

It'll be fine. Fins grow back. Sometimes it won't look the same but it'll be okay.

I Don't think this will grow back, if it was a bite it was from a while ago. there is no fresh looking marks. I paid good money for these fish and would have liked one that wasn't scarred.

Pics?

My Rbp shoal has done this a few times, clean water and a healthy diet will ensure the wound heals properly!

There is no open wound it must have healed long ago.

Watching him it does appear that he uses them for just slight movements, It just sucks when ou pay good money for a fish and then get one that is deformed, I have had him for just a few days.

yea they look a little beat up but that's the good thing about piranhas, it gives them character! Think of how harsh the amazon is, battle wound or not its a cool fish!!!

I see quite a size difference between the pygos you have so keep an eye on them and most definitely offer some healthy food I.e pellets, fillets etc.
