I am designing a FBF for my soon to be purchased Fahaka Puffer (We are now living in Nigeria and they are local here).
I want to do 2 55Gal drums - First to have quilt mat for mechanical filter - flowing into K1 - Then Flowing into the second drum where I will have heaters. water will exit at the bottom for return to tank.
I was thinking of adding a second Pump in the second drum that pumps back to the first (at the Bottom) with a venturi attached in order to generate the air for the K1. Two reasons:
1. Second pump will be piped to primary with valves so that if I have a pump failure I can keep the water flowing until I get a replacement (not many aquarium suppliers here) though drawing does not show it.
2. I hate the noise of an airpump and do not have one....
Can I generate enough bubbles to keep the K1 fluidized? Suggested Pump size? any experience with Venturi DIY of off the shelf units?
