I'm planning out my fish room design. I just built a quick test stand for 20 gallon tanks. I gave myself 8.5" vertical space for maintenance, etc. How much space do you have above your tanks?

^^ Agree,

As a side note I would play with putting the lighting in the shelf above and just to glass tops on your tanks. I think it would look nice.

Just an idea, Nice stand too..

Thanks, both of you! This was the CAD render after I designed it, for this stand/area. The area to the right of the stand is off limits (or so says my wife) :)

I'm cycling these tanks to test it out now. I'm also experimenting with the background color, and I'm not sure I like how low the bottom tank is. More to come.

I usually shoot for a around 12" space between tanks. Also I have found that I try to have a space under the bottom tank for air flow for that occasional water spill.
