I had a bit of a scare last night..... my barramundi was swimming vertical. It was like his bottom end was too heavy and looked like he was sinking. I quickly moved him into a larger tank (cooler water, lower PH). I didn't think he'd pull through. This morning I went and checked on him and he is swimming ok. He seems to have a strange bend in his tail. Not sure what's going on.

Any ideas?

Is this a freshwater fish? If so, I would check your nitrate levels. The bend in the tail is a symptom of poisoning in freshwater fish. Vertical swimming is a secondary symptom.

He might have smacked his head. My Oscar did that and swam vertically for a few days. He seemed to curve his body, too, but I think it was for maneuvering purposes.

yeah, my aro does that from time to time. Think it's fatigue because the water always checks out ok. I turn off the lights and slow the surface motion down. Within 20-30 minutes he's usually fine. good luck!

how is he doing now?

How big is he at the moment, he sounds similar to my newest Barra, who is now looking good 8D
