Vieja synspilum, vieja argentea, female jag, female dovii, female mayan, texas and a red devil in a 260, is this too many aggressive fish or would the aggression be spread out between everyone? Will all be brought up together, only large-ish one I already have is the synspilum but it has a tiny mouth so i'm not worried about it eating anyone.

Good chance of the Royal Rumble occurring, with the last man(or lady) standing being the Dovii. May work for a while, but high aggression, territorial fish will eventually behave as such. 260 gals is really not very big for that many tough customers.

Depends on their sizes and the hiding places you provide.... I would go for it but just remove the fish that get targeted most and add others to replace those till you get a happy balance. Just be aware that Dovii and Jags are highly predatory and will eat anything that fits in their mouths without a moments notice.

Hmm I was hoping the fact the dovii was female would mean it would be a bit more placid, and that the fact they're all pretty tough fish would mean they could hold their own against each other. Suppose I have other tanks to move them to if things get too serious..

Stick to all males, and ditch the dovii overall. Any female will pair with "suitable" males, and the rest of the tank will suffer from the pairing.

I've already placed the order before these replies, looks like i'm stuck with the dovii unless I can trade for another fish when I pick them up. Shame really, would love to keep a dovii but i'm not really into single fish tanks. Thanks for the replies guys.

Are these fish young? If so then you would have some time before you have to worry.

Jaguar, synspilum and mayan are 4-5" and the rest will be around 3", will be plenty of bogwood, rockwork and artificial plants in the tank and i'll make sure everyone has a cave so hopefully i'll have some time?
