Hi guys I have noticed two of my fish rub against objects in their tank. Although it is not frequent it is still a concern. None of the fish in the tank have signs of white spots. None are acting different or not normal. They eat very well and are very active.

The water perimeters - Everything is 0
Temp - has been increased to 88 degrees.

My question is should I start with salt? or just do water changes every other day at 50% or more? or do I do both?

Please Help as this would be devastating if I lose any of my fish......

Thanks,

OK, I read that if fish "flash" or rub against things it doesn't necessary mean they have Ich. My question would be as a precaution should I still use salt?

Check for scratches on the fish. Its probably NOT ick there's no need for the temperature boost some parasites and funguses prefer higher temps. My datnoid once did this. I just left it alone for a week and he stopped. He was fine. Also check for loss of scales, decoloration and for positive results pictures REALLY HELP none of us care if its a bad shot its the fishes health that's a concern not the beauty.

I agree with the last post, probablly not ich at this point. I always get concerned when I see my fish "flash" against something but unless they are always doing it I don't think you have a problem. Imagine if you just had a normal itch but had no hands to scratch with, you would probablly rub against something. If they are constantly doing it I would be worried. But you are probablly fine

Here are a few pictures that I just snapped for reference.

This picture you can see some discoloration below his fin. I am not sure if this is something to worry or just the start of peeling.

It could also be velvet. My pbass started flash rubbing so I thought I was ich. Started treatment then I notice internal bleeding, I could see alot of blood heading towards their fins and started to worry bad. They had also lost thier color and faded real lightly. I have 2 tems and 1 occeil. I am using copper power green. So far it has been working their appetite has came back and I have noticed no more flash rubbing. Copper power green treats a whole bunch of different parasites and diseases. I would recommend that or copper safe.
