That photo is absolutely amazing, seeing how a skink is built in hand-drawn photos is nothing like being able to look at the systems themselves. Please post any other photos.

How many bubs was she set to have?

and it was a reduced pattern one but not one of the juvis that were the most special, her babies would have been interesting though as the father was very nice.

ok so i'll post a few pics, up.
History:
this Shingle back lizard died of what i believe was septicemia, the post mortme showed nothign significant

anyways here goes i will chat though these photos explaining what ever i rememeber.

the initial incisions
DSCF2432.jpg

these guys have very tough skin as you can imagine to give you a better representative of this
DSCF2434.jpg

this is the first complete view. this is where you stop and examine how everything looks and ask yourself a few questions......., is it the right colouring, is it in the right place, is their anything obviously wrong, bruising, stuff like that.
DSCF2436.jpg

now i have removed the rib cage for easier viewing and access. notice how large the right lung is in this species, they a re almost the missing link between lizards and snakes. they do have 2 lung but due to their body shape the right becomes more prominent.
DSCF2437.jpg

DSCF2438.jpg

this photo depicts the inside of the mouth, you can see the blue tongue and the epiglottis.
DSCF2440.jpg

the full system removed. tongue to anus in this you can begin to see the left lung and see that it is more developed then you would think from teh first photos. in a snake the left lung is barely there.
DSCF2441.jpg

this is the digestive system showing the stomach on the left to the rectum on the right. i have removed the oesophagus in this photo, no internal parasites were found.
DSCF2443.jpg

this is a picture of the liver and heart, not very focused i appologise for this picture.
DSCF2444.jpg

DSCF2445.jpg

DSCF2446.jpg

inside of the heart
DSCF2449.jpg

and lastly it was a male
DSCF2447.jpg

i did not take photos of the kidneys or testicles, and im not sure why but i do remember that everythign was pretty normal

regards
Gary

Those are some cool pics, I've never done a reptile dissection before...

i feel bad for the flood and loss of the skink, interesting though :D
btw does anyone else here find it cool when animals are like turned into a skeleton model? at my school we have a bird skeleton and i always thought a reptile one would be cool :)
