hi david,
the trip went fine, but the tsn cat either puked or pooped on the way home, because the water was nasty, i was waiting for josh to arrive with the idea that we were going to put the larger 2 armatus in the 4000, but when i took the lid off of the 150 gal tub, it was nasty grey water that stunk, and the largest armatus was on his side at the bottom, well needless to say, we had to get these guys out of that water as soon as possible and since they were stressing so bad, i could not put them in a tank where other fish might nibble and pick at them and possibly stress them more, you know how fish are, normally would not touch other fish but if it were a sick fish they would eat the slime layer off of them and so on, so now here i am without a safty tank to put them in, so i decided to lower the water as much as possible from the tub they were in, we also took the tsn out and into another tub and started to acclimate him into the pool. so now we have the tub empty to 4" deep, the 2 big armatus do not look good, it looks like at this time we migh be able to save the 18" but not the 24" so i started to slowly add the good clean water from my 4000 untill the tub was half way full then i filled it much more quickly to the top, giving them the most clean water that i could, then we emptied the water down to 4" again and refilled it with more water from thew 4000, it did not help, now the largest was still lying on the bottom, and was turning a grey sheen over his body, so the only thing i knew what to do was to give him the best cleanest water that i can find and try a little salt, a .001 percent solution, and bring the temp up to 85 degrees, thats the best remedy that i have found for stressed out fish to survive, because i was at the point where i was going to lose this fish, i took drastic measures, i took a empty 800 gall tub, pumped water from my pool wwhich is at 87 degrees, filled the tub up 1/4 way, used prime to dechlor it, and picked up the fish by hand and layed him into the tub, where he fell straight to the floor on his side, now normally i would not do this to a fish without acclimating him to the new water, but this fish was next to dead, so i tried it, and i went to get the salt to start a salt water drip into the tank, when i got back top the tub, he twiched a little and moved up to the top of the water no longer laying on his side, and stayed at the top of the water with his nose touching the top and his tail lowered in the rear, next the breathing slowed down and he started swimming around the tub in circles and then he lowered his nose from the top of the water and started to swim in the current of the filter that i stole off of another tank that had been running for a few months, then all at once he went to the center of the tub and started to do the armatus twich stance, where they stay sill in the water and twich the end of there tail every once in a while, and was sitting with his nose just a little lower in front than in back, and i knew that we just saved this fish, he was looking a whole bunch better, the silver/grey sheen disappeared and his colors cam back, and i was relieved, we went ahead and acclimated the other 2 to the same water and put the tsn in the pool, and when i woke up this morning, i went out to check on them and they are doing great, looks like nothing ever happened to them at all. now what ium thinking is, the tsn had to puke in the water which let out acids and such into the tub, because there is no way that those large fish couldnt make it for a 2 hour drive, in a 150 gal tub with a air stone, i dunno but we saved them, i wish i had the time to grab a camera and show you how they showed up here, but i was too busy trying to save them.
now im not going to move them or bother them in this tub untill i see that they eat, then ill slowly aclimate them into the 4000 gal tank, so now all the fish are fine and thanks for letting us get them, we will take good care of them, and of course you can come see them anytime that you want :)
