I noticed in the last few hours my broko ocellaris and the bala sharks are all behaving very odd.

For some reason they are all hiding behind the driftwood and sitting like statues with colors of fright.

Broko bass has been still a couple hours and totally not acting like his cichlid self.

What the heck is going on ?

Have you checked your water parameters? What size tank are they in?

Water is perfect.

88 degrees

7.0 ph

1 tsp of salt to 5 gallons

ammonia , nitrites , nitrates , copper , phosphates are all 0.0

Tank is 75 gallon.

Nitrates 0.0? Do you have plants in there?

Also, the temp seems to be on the warm side. Do you have air in the tank? Do they seem to be gasping at all?

Do you use a hydrometer to measure salinity? Most here don't use salt except for treatments (or brackish/saltwater of course).

Not that I don't trust your reading, but it sounds like you have high nitrates. Have you done a waterchange recently?

Dual airstones , a splash effect from my powerhead filter and 3 banana plants. Plenty of oxygen.

No gasping.

Water change of 30% 2 days ago.

Nitrates are still 0.0

Damn, sorry, I don't know. I would suggest if there's no improvement in another hour, then go ahead and do another water change. If they are all acting lethargic, then something's up. You don't happen to have a Stealth model heater do you?

Good luck! Be sure to post back with the outcome.

It's worth checking into. If you've seen all the posts recently about Marineland failures, you know about the issues. You may have a problem going on with your heater. I would look it over closely and make sure it hasn't cracked. You may have a resin leak if so. Also, if possible, check your water temp with a second thermometer. I know I am grasping for straws here...only trying to help you out :)

Thanks for all the help. I have an infared temp guage that shoots a beam at what your taking the temp of. It very accurate. Tested is with boiling water and a chunk of ice. Dead on.
My heater ia 1 month old and had not taken any hard blows.

This is just so odd. All my fish plecos included are just stationary.

I'd still give the heater a look. The failure rate on these things is horendous. And none that I know of took a hit...all simply failed (and caused ALL sorts of problems). There has been everything from cracking and leaking resin into the tank, electrical current, failing "on", failing "off" and even in once case, exploding (and taking out the side of the tank).

Have you noticed any movement in your fish yet?
