I got a 10 gal tank from my grandmother today an this thing is old. The last 10 gal that i had was made with 1/8th" glass, this thing has 3/16th" glass. Ive never seen a tank yet that has a frame that not one piece, plus theres no lip on the top frame for a hood or canopy to sit in. I took some time an resiliconed the upright seams just to be safe as the bottom seams look pretty good.

ehh, might not be worth it, without the lip for the canopy or anything this limits you and its also a 10 gal which really limits you, but if u wanted to keep the water lev low (no suicide jumpers) and use a airstone and quartine feeders that might be a good idea, if not check your local petland mine has 10 gals for 10 bucks.

I was thinking bout using it to quarintine feeders as im currently using a 7gal rubbermaid container to house them. An if it breaks or springs a leak on me its really no biggie as I got it for free.

As for the lid issue Id probally just use 1/4" plexi an have it rest on top with corner blocks to keep it in place.

You might end up spending more on the glue than what a brand new one costs....Just raise some crabs in and fill halfway with water....Put some nice looking rocks in it too...Maybe adding a lot of moss would be cool too, let grow throughout the back and over the rocks....In fact, scratch out the crab and go for a Pac-Man frog:thumbsup:....Here's your link:http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/animals/tree-frogs-other-frogs-and-amphibians/-/baby-pac-man-frogs/....People have ball feeding these bottom-less stomach creatures.....And here's the link for the peat moss:http://lllreptile.com/store/catalog/animals/tree-frogs-other-frogs-and-amphibians/-/live-terrarium-moss/.....Post pix....

already had the silicone I used, so thats just me using stuff that i had sitting around from another project.

Ive always thought those pacman frogs were cool lil things, but my girl is deathly afraid of frogs (cant see why, probally some fobia or something) so that sortve kills that idea. Good ideas though,

Use it. Those old things were built to last. (Might take a littlework but worth it. JMO though; but I'm using an old 10 gal. glass for the same quarantine reason. Not as old as yours is, I think.
