The owner of my LFS today was showing me an african cichlid that was supposedly a cross between an electric blue and something else (don't remember, sorry!). Anyway, the owner called it an Obahi (not sure of the spelling exactly) cichlid, and he said that he was the only store in Florida, and one of the few in the US, that sold them. Anyone know anything about this fish? If it really is that rare, maybe I'll think about getting one...
Thank you!

Ok... lol! If you don't know what I am talking about, maybe I was told wrong? How about if you have no idea what this fish is, you tell me. :)
Here is a description just in case:
Has the almost exact body shape of an electric blue, but is a much lighter blue and has greyish black large spots all over its body.
NOW does anyone have any ideas?

"Sounds like a marketing ploy. Most african cichlid hobbyists won't buy hybrids."

It probably is some ploy, but I am still curious. Thank you for replying!

Ya I know... I already tried googling it. I wasn't going to buy it anyway, was just curious. Thank you for reassuring me that my LFS doesn't really know anything about the fish they sell! Seriously, I asked the man what one of the fish in his store was, and he said it was a cichlid. Then I said "Okay... what KIND of cichlid." He replied "Um... I think it's a yellow lab." It wasn't!
Thank you for replying!

ha unless it is a really rare fish that I never heard of here is what I think. ok so he told you the name was "obahi" right. well lets look at that name and the description you gave, for a sec - a "ahli" is a electric blue cichlid. and a "ob" is a type of peacock cichlid and they have sporadic spotty color patterns. sooooooo seems to me like he just has a electric blue and ob hybrid. rare? idk about that. worth alot of money? probably not. but do YOU like it? if you do, then call him on his Bull**** and dont give him more the 20 if its a good size and 10 if its small. thats my opinion.

Ya I'm almost positive your right about it not being worth very much. They are a decent size though, about 4 inches. And they are about $20, so I figured they couldn't be that rare. I'm not interested any way... they aren't THAT pretty!

I called my LFS today to see if they had anything to cycle a tank and they didnt know what cycling even is...yeah...I really hate living in a town of 23K people with the next biggest city being 3 hours away.
