Ok so my little silver dollar started to get really skinny so i put him in the 30 gallon convict fry tank. Next thing i know he is so close to dead he was sucked up next to the filter. So i only had a 2.5 gallon for himself so i put him in there and he barely started to swim.I added melafix, pimafix, and aquarium salt and he seems to be doing much better. He wont eat and is getting fin rot BAD anything else i should do? He is swimming around fine now but is very skinny and the fin rot is scaring me. Thanks in advance for any help.

It sounds as though he has some kind of long-term internal health problem (assuming the original thinness wasn't due to simple starvation). His general weakness is probably what's causing the fin rot; his immune system is so low. All I can suggest is to keep the environment perfect and maybe consult a vet.

yeah when i first got him it was like this too but it got better and wasnt as bad.

they are not going to take a silver dollar to a vet lets be real. keep the water pristine and add a bunch of plants for him to snack on

I had them for a few years is this the only one you have I found they do not like to be alone they need to be in groups and stress can kill them. Try to keep him out of light and you could try some cooked zuchini or as the poster said before some plants. I had a few that just stressed so bad no matter what I did they would run into the sides of the tank then die.Good luck

Poor thing died this morning i will put pics up later at least a tried.
