having never built a pond i need some basic help on bracing, or if i even need any. the pond will be 84x40x18to24 and lined with a liner, built out of 3/4" plywood. any help is appreciated, would like to start this soon.

I think most people just build with studs 12" on center then plywood line it. Or you could do it like BOTR did and just use 2 by 4s laid flat and stacked.

I built mine with a combination of the first method and the other half interlocking landscaping brick.

And height you can put on it you will greatly appreciate down the road..... Siphoning ponds sucks way bad. IF it was me I'de put a drain in it.

i agree.. even 2 2x12's stacked and gang plated will be cheaper than ply.. cause if you use ply.. you are going to have to brace the crap out of it. resulting in more money that just studs stacked..

Not to hijack the thread, but what does "gang plated" mean? I haven't heard this term and Google was no help.

I think it is when you drill holes through a bunch of pieces of wood and use superlong bolts to attach them together... though that is just what I gather from that sentence.
