5 days ago after a really hot couple of days my 240g tank got really cloudy. i did a 50% water change but by the end of the next day it happened again (it had got really hot again to about 31 degrees) and although i've got it to cool back down to about 27 degrees it's not getting particularly better.

I assume this is a bacterial bloom but i've tested the eater and it's fine and the fish are still eating fine. never experienced this before so was looking for some advice. do i do another big water change or hold fire and see if it clears?

Try doing 50's everyday til it goes away.

Did you test the water? If so what are the tests saying?

is the tank direct sunlight or is it by a window?

it was getting some sunlight but i've blocked that off now. I did some filter maintenance after it had got a bit cloudy but it has got worse since so it may be a mini cycle

Sounds like a bacterial bloom to me too. Water changes and time will clear it up.
