Hello! I currently have a 125 gallon aquarium with about a 20inch RTC! I have (two) penguin power filters 350 and a (Eheim) 2217 and a Cascade 1000 canister filter! My water paramiters are great! I do a consistant water schedule routine of 40 to 50 percent on sunday and then a 20percent change on wednesday! My problem Is that water is constantly a (Greenish Tint/murky) Ive kept the light off for days to see If that was the issue and still. the water clarity remained the same! Im just out of ideas of what this could possibly be. I mean a good routine water change schedule, combined with a great filtration system, Im baffled at what the problem could be! Any input and ideas as to what the problem could be would be greatly appreciated! Thanks guys:cry:

Does the tank get direct sunlight?

It's not that weird, you put an entirely too large animal in a too small space and you will have excess nutrient (that is, nutrients for algae) build up. What's this 125 dimensions? I would think 72x18x22. In any case you need to get that large animal in a suitable enclosure, then you will see a change.

If you are going black out method, you need to BLACK OUT the tank. It will take 4-5 days in complete darkness. You can do this by wrapping the tank in a heavy sheet. UV sterilizers will also fix the result, but not the problem.

I am sorry to say this, but you will always have green algae with that fish in that tank...

Either way, I would suggest every other day water changes of 60-70 percent to clear it up and then change water as much as you need to, to keep nitrates under 20ppm or mg/l.

What are your ACTUAL readings for your water parameters?

I used to have a 10g with overstocked guppies and overfeeding.

The floating algae was terrible.
I tried flocculants, Algone, everything.

Then I did a 75% waterchange and put a black background behind my tank (it's on the windowsill, 12 hours direct sunlight

All the algae went poof. My tank was crystal clear.
