Got my son a new tank in his room last night:headbang2Its only a 30gal but to him its a monster<upgraded from a 10gal>.
Anyway,i told my wife to bring home a 100 watt heater from the store and it was a 100 watt Viaaqua glass heater.I put it in and turned it on,said it was completely submersible so i didnt think anything of it.Well i got home from work and just happened to look at the instructions and it said dont get the temperature controller wet!:screwy:Now its sitting in the tank and i dont know if its going to fail or cause and electric shock. Why would they say its completely submersible if you cant get the top wet?Whats your opinion leave it completely under water or unplug it and go buy another?Am i missing something here?

i've bought a via aqua heater before, and i wouldn't recommed it. I didn't look at the instruction booklet, and I put the whole thing in. I just found out about that...The heaters look very cheap as compared to marinelands. The via aqua broke a few months later and killed a few fish. Now, I only use marineland stealth.

I agree,i have 2 Stealths in my big tank and they have been some long lasting work horses. But is the one in my boys tank just a cheap one or did i ruin it by putting it all the way under?
Just doesnt make any since to me,kind of confusing. It say completly submersible but dont get the top wet!lol. Is it junk by nature or did i just make it even junkier?

I agree...
Marineland Stealth...set it and forget it!

I'd unplug that one you have, let it dry out and return it for a Stealth ;)

/\A word from the wise. Stealth Heaters are awesome.
