Is a Dominant Male always going to be a dominant male?
I got 7 Happ44 several weeks ago ranging in size from .75 to 1.5 inches.
One male is clearly dominant based on his amazing color, however there is another male i'm guessing, which is now larger than him starting to get a little more color than he has had before, but not even close to the colors of the other male. He seems to be more aggressive than the dominant male and is out in front of the tank, while the other male usually hangs out behind some rocks. Will there be a changing of the guard?

I've seen the "changing of the guard" many times with my Malawi growouts. Even from the same clutch, some fish are just late bloomers and will hit a growth spurt late. Funny to see the larger non-colored male getting punked by a fish 3/4 his size.... give him another month and watch the tables flip. Good stuff. :)

Yep, they can and will alternate depending on which one is tougher at the moment.
