IN YOUR HEAD
i have achived victory with my 12"+ florida...no make that a dubble victory...i got to hand feed it for the first time and it ate a chunk of fillet for the first time also...it never ate anything non-live and today bam out of the blue the thing takes it like it has been eatting from my hand its whole life...:headbang2:headbang2

I saw the header on the thread, and the first thing that came to mind was: "Oh, sbuse's Gar has started to eat!!!:D
And looky here...
Cool, dude!
My wife started helping out with the handfeeding of my gar and every night I got home from work, I get to hear all the storys about how exciting it was!
Can't wait till he accidentally bites the hand that feeds him!
Congratz, you're in for so much fun, Gar got real personality!;)

ya i have had this guy since it was 7-8" it just never wanted anything to do with non-live food and i couldn't starveit cause it likes to eat baby bullheads and i have have smaller tsns in the tank...so what i did was i had a constant supply of feeders in for months then let them run out...left it "empty" for 2 days then tried every trick i could think of and nothing....then i figured the simplest and obvious would work...so i took a finger sized chunk of fillet and wiggled it at the surface were i put all food in from and it came up and took it ever so nicely...i have tried this over and over and over but nothing, then it would start looking hard at my tsns and feeders went in...it always checks everthing out in the tank and every new thing that gets put in so i am suprised it took so long...i have been bitten by a 2' wild gar and i know what that feels like so i wont be shocked when mine bites me...if you hand feed your fish at some point you will get bit, it is not a mater of if, but when...

congrats!

Great!!!!! I hand-feed mine all the time....and always scared it's going to bite me everytime also. lol

Congratulations! :clap

thanx...i've been tring to long its a great feeling now that i don't have to do feeders any more...i will still catch some feeders from lakes sometimes but now that it isnt a nicessity it is awsome!

ya like last nights feeding it missed the piece in my hand and started eatting pieces off the bottom...
