I have seen thses at my lfs and have had different labeo types before. I bought one today after finding basics out from the owner. Only trouble is I can't locate any info online / searching this forum. Anyone know what type of fish I'm refering too? I will post a pic when he comes out of hiding, hes new to the tank right now and still shy...

its silver in color, pretty much solid silver with light horizontal striations (almost like a striped bass would have). Here is a pic, he has barbells but they're too small to see in the pic. Hes about 5 inches long...

hmmm can't seem to find a color pic of the african, all the pics are b/w and look generically like all "sharks"/carp sp. . I don't think it is Hampala because its fins are not angular at their edges and the dorsalfin tappers off, it doesnt cut back like the Hampala pics ive seen (not to mention it has no color to its fins or tail that the hampala pics show). Although the LFS owner told me the tail "colors up" with age... hmmmm only left with more questions...

The "Hampala Barbs" at my LFS look less robust with reddish fins. I don't even know if that's the real name of the fish I'm looking at.

Yeah, I can;t stand when things are "mis-nomered". This LFS is pretty good too, the guy can usually tell me the scientific name off the top of his head. Clean setups and knows what hes talking about.... my hunt continues.
