This was fun. I busted this one out in one hour, from record button to quicktime export. These are the fish I currently have. I wish they all got along better; half of them are complete ***holes. I like ‘em all though. My tank is not lit up enough for good video.
I’m pretty stoked about growing these fish out. I’ll probably film these fish a bunch as they grow.
My saxatilis pike are the best. They always have been. I can only get one kind of pike here ;)

I’m used to no one responding to my posts, I guess the questions I ask are lame or whatever, but I am slightly surprised that no one had anything to say about this video. I’ve watched every fish keeping video on youtube, and aside from simply showing fish, they don’t have a lot of entertainment value. That’s fine, but I figured I’d try something different here. I think a little time in the editing room would make fish keeping videos a lot more fun to watch. It was an attempt to inspire.
I just wonder, since more people have viewed this post then actually watched the video, by far, was it not obvious that there was a link to the video there? Maybe it’s the handle I use. I have been making Fishkill Productions fishing and hunting videos for some years now. I guess I’ll stick with those. I may make a living killing fish, but that doesn’t mean I am not the most dedicated fish keeper I know ;)
Sorry for the rant, I’m just blown away with some of the posts that illicit mad response. I’m out. Crenicichla FTW.

nice vid, not a fan of fast foward though and idk whats up with 125g being like all of the last 2 min of the vid. flagtail looks good though

Thanks. It's not fast-forwarded, thats the camera doing it's best with poor lighting. Not sure what you meant when you asked "whats up w the 125g being all of the last 2 min of vid?"
It's a tinfoil, ain't it?

I actually liked the song...usually I mute the music from youtube fish videos unless its natural lOl

maybe because its Mr. Nasir Jones :) lOl

That is a very nice video. The pike, and all of your fish actually, look really healthy. I also like the use of a small shoal of silver dollars in there as dither fish, and the tinfoil barb works--despite it being from a different continent.

I was actually thinking of using spotted pims, too. How does that one work for you? Seems very healthy and well fed. I might consider adding a couple more spotted pims and maybe one or two more tinfoil barbs, since they all appreciate some of their own kind. Just a thought, but if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

I wonder how you could make the colors on that pike pop? I mean you can see the super yellow color undertone. They are there waiting to burst. Maybe a little blackwater extract???

Anyway, nice healthy fishes you have there!!

Yeah, that tinfoil barb wasn't supposed to be around this long. It doesn't really "fit," but I keep it because it does good dither work. It will be too big for my liking soon though, and it will have to go. I know they need like their own kind, but at this point I think he pretty much considers himself a SD.

Those (2) pictus are great, easy fish. They're wicked active, attractive looking, and good at cleaning up scraps. With three growing creni's in there, which spend most of their time down low, I was worried for a while about available ground space. Thats why I don't have any sizable pleco's. Turns out they don't bother each other at all. The pikes are indifferent to them.

My largest, which I think is female (rosy belly), is obviously not mature. I'm waiting patiently for some spangling to develop. I feel like the sand, which is a new addition, is keeping her colors from 'popping.' Make sense? We'll see.

And I'm not sure about having all three in there. There isn't any aggression really, but the smaller two spend most of their time staying away from her. I'm crossing my fingers that I won't have to remove one. I thought about that blackwater stuff. Doesn't seem like many people use it though. I don't need crispy water. I need happy fish. I need more lighting too, the camera had a hard time with that.
Thanks for the response. All I want to do is talk about my fish, and I don't know anyone around here who gives a chit about keeping fish. Hence the rant.

I've noticed that this forum doesn't get as much traffic as some of the others on MFK. That's why it often takes some time to receive comments on threads. Don't take it so personal. You have a good video and I hope that your stock continues to thrive together.
