Nice set-up Jason. I'm slowley converting the 55 I had the Krobia in to a planted tank with some Java Fern, Water Sprite and some floating Duck Weed. Wednseday I picked up 4 Sajica from The Fish Junky and put them in with the Mollies who btw seem to like the Duck weed so not sure if that's going to last. I like the use of Java Fern and Cabomba in your tank makes a nice low tech set-up. Did I see a Soward and Val in there too? Anyway, I like the look the livebearers and the snails. Very nice.

Really nice - seeing those cryptos make me miss mine alot....

Any special lighting you have setup? - I'm terrible with plants, and I think its probably due to some poor lighting choices on my part.

that's the best part. No, nothing special at all. I have a regular 4' aquarium strip light and I also bought a 2-bulb 4' shop light from lowes for like $10. So there are 3 sunlight bulbs on the tank. No ferts, no CO2, no special substrate.

I only had the 2-bulb shop light on it for a while at my old apartment and had hornwart growing out of the tank. unfortunately when I moved i lost all of the hornwart. I basically trimmed it down and only kept enough that I thought would be enough to replant the tank with but it wound up in the dark longer than I expected and some of it tore up and it just didn't make it.

The cheap sword I had did make it though...it never really thrived because the hornwart grew all across the top of the tank sucking up all the light and I was just too lazy in trimming the hornwart. However when I lost the hornwart in the move, the sword started to thrive and I now have it broken up into 3 pieces.

So I decided about a month or so ago that I wanted some more hornwart so I went to aquabid and wound up getting an auction for a variety of 6 plants plus I ordered a few extra. I wasn't sure how the new plants would do with just the shop light but fortunately I found a 6' aquarium strip light that I bought for $40 so I was then able to move the 4' strip light that had been on my 125 over to add additional lighting for the 55. So far all of the plants that I added have been growing very well. I've already had to trim the anacharis and I can see a solid 1.5-2" growth on some of the other taller plants. :)
