Video of my 55 gallon native tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
veryy nice :headbang2 although a fifty five may be on the small side for all those fish. the crappie look amazing, and the needle fish is a great touch :D

I really love the species mix, but I agree about the tank size. Do you have much experience with natives? My laptop sucks, so I couldn't tell if that was a small longnose gar or something else. If it is, your gonna need a much bigger tank for it by itself. Plus the bass will need something bigger, and much later the crappie will too. All in all it's a nice setup, very clean, and the fish seem happy for the most part. You might want to get something for the bullhead to hide in sometimes too. Mine hide alot, but also come out alot. Especially when food is eminent. I'm working on training them to eat out of my hand.
Keep it up, you've got a great start there. I especially like the warmouth, would like to get half a dozen for my own!

what exactly are you waiting for? Go get em!

I have had the green for almost two years, he started out as a fry in a 10 gallon and the cat i have had for over a year and if i give him a hiding place i won't see him for days at a time and he never comes out to eat. That is a needlenose gar (needlefish) i wish it was a longnose. I am planning to upgrade them as they grown. I aslo have a few sunfish hybrids in a 30 gallon

Does he eat well now? My catfish and my channel cat won't eat if they don't have a hiding place. I guess they don't feel secure enough.
It is true you won't see them much at first, but over time they'll come out, and be happier. But if he's doing fine, there's no real reason to change it. Is he real skittish?

he does great, he sims around and eats and goes up to the surface for koi pellets

Yeah, Little vacumn cleaners they are. I've seen em swimming around sucking mayfly larvae down, just like trout. If he's happy, good enough. Mine wouldn't know what to do without cover.
