I just kinda laughed to myself when my discus started laying eggs a few months ago. All I could think of was some of the people who said that you shouldn't keep discus with rays because the rays would stress them out and/or see them as food (im sure it has happened to some people, don't get me wrong)
Seems as though my discus are happy enough to try breeding. They eat the eggs more then likely because they know they wouldn't survive, heck they usually eat the eggs even if there are other discus around.
Enjoy

It would be interesting to see what colors the fry end up being!

Smart fish you have there, they put the eggs on the heater for a reason. They like their eggs fried xD

:grinno: i know, luckily its a rena heater that hardly gets warm to the touch and only turns on every once in a while for about 30-60 seconds. But if I separate them I will provide them something better to lay eggs on.

I agree, Time to get them their own tank.
I'm seriously considering it. I mean if they turn out horrid looking i can just dump them back in the ray tank and they will be small enough to be seen as snacks for the rays :grinno:
My water is really too hard and too high of pH for discus breeding, I wonder how much effort it would take to maintain one breeding tank...
