Great looking fish. They looked like they were mostly just sizing each other up, and there wasn't any damage. How long were they doing that and what ended up happening?0

haha, great looking fish though, that GT is how my old boy used to look before he jumped, just beautiful... where did you get that firemouth from? it was GORGEOUS, i normally dont really care for FM but yours had all those gorgeous blues on it and tons of red I've never seen one that colorful before

My 4" gt is a pushover, my female 2" firemouth picks on him.

I've noticed firemouth's change colours a lot. Some of mine will be dull while others are bright red with the blue showing up in the scales, especially when breeding or fighting.

This was the easy part, ended with the FM whopping the GT's a*s, leaving his mouth crooked.
Here is an old pic of him, i REALLY regret selling him, but he was worth selling, he would have gotten eaten by the congicus, i am getting more fm's in november..

Sorry to hear that. Firemouths can be crazy aggressive. My firemouth actually killed my larger female salvini. He is in a 25g with swordtails and a clown pleco.
