Hi, just uploaded a video of my set up....it contains 2 geophagus brasiliens, 1 convict, 1 green terror, 2 severums, 1 jack dempsey, 1 nicaraguan cichlid, 1 oscar and a birchir and a pleco....I realise that when everything is full grown it will be somewhat overstocked, and will very likely let a few go as they grow out, I currently have one large external filter running...and will be adding another large external within the next month or so too....what do you guys think?

Very nice! great selection, but as just said, I have a feeling you may wake up with one less fish every so often. Beautiful fish, just a ton of agro issues. Who knows...maybe they'll be cool. Other than than that its really nice !!! Keep us posted with more vids and pics.

Well your oscars or your Dempsey will kill everyone off after awhile but love the video!

thanks for the input guys, can I ask what issues that you can see? I thought I had picked a fairly decent selection to co-exist well together, from what I have read most jack dempseys are not overly aggressive, but will readily defend themselves should the need arise, my green terror is very peaceful as GT`s go....the brasiliens are tough fish, that can hold their own and get a decent size...the convict holds his own no problem, the oscar is still small (around 3in) the one who shows the most aggression is the nicaraguan to be fair, but that is only when the others get too close for comfort, and only with the ones his size...anything bigger and he is fine, he also ignores the oscar even though he is a bit smaller, noone bothers the bichir and the plec just does his own thing....I took the gold severum out last night, as he was really hassling my rotkeil and oscar....I am genuinely open to critisism! I am pretty new to south and central american cichlids, I always kept malawis before and only dabbled in american cichlids a bit in the past.

Geo's will fight back. However, not a chance with the size of some of the other tankmates. Like I said, hopefullt it will work and chances are it definitely could. With the livestock, there are so manyterritorial issues. Thats really what it comes down to. The nic is a crazy dude but as the others start to grow and test themselves it could be a bit messy. Its a beautiful tank and a great selection. They just get crappy about their territory.

Thanks, I see where your coming from....I love the nicaraguan, but as you say...he will soon start running into trouble when the JD and others get bigger, he is completely fearless! he even displays to the GT! she did get fed up with him earlier and pushed him into the sand! he wasn`t phased though and there was no damage done, he still hasn`t learnt from it though and is currently flaring up at her again! I have to say that even though he was the last addition, the oscar is definitely my favorite...so if things do go bad in there over the coming months I may just stick with him and maybe get another, and just stick to two oscars and the GT and maybe the severum (cichlid wise) would that be do-able do you think?

well things have taken a real turn for the worst! I have taken the gold severum out as I said, and now the GT is playing up! s/he has torn a big chunk out of the oscars dorsal fin, and split his tail... and is hassling everything else in the tank too...I am off work tomorrow so I think I will have to do some soul searching tonight and decide what I want more, an oscar or two along with a few more peaceful cichlids or let the oscar and maybe the geos go and stick to an aggressive community, really gutted as I was so happy with the selection...but as you guys predicted, things are already going wrong! maybe everyone was just on a kind of "settling period" and all behaving themselves, but now their true colours are starting to shine through :(....very likely I will go the oscar route, as I just love "wet pet" type fish....but have to say, I will be gutted to let the terror go if I do decide to go that way!
