Unfortunately the h. Deppi was hiding the whole time. Definitely think I’m going to eventually move fish once they grow more. The astyanax bimculatus and c. Rostratus will get their own tank for sure. I want to keep things closer to geography corrrct.

Looking really good, the bimculatus look a good size.

Thanks Dan. The biggest is the only female. She was looking very fat, which I’m wondering if she had/has eggs. They need plants to breed, but keeping them w/ plants has been tough. They eat anything and eat a lot. They even ate java fern. I guess fake plants are the answer, but I don’t want them in that tank.

Are they nippy as tank mates,

You can try some yarn tied to a rock behind the hardscape. Many breeders use it instead of plants. You'll have to pull out any eggs quickly, though.

Mix is looking good as usual! Man I need some of those Astyanax to live with my istlanum. He is a vicious little S.O.B. but I bet the Astyanax could take it. If yours breed, let me know and I'd pay if you were willing to ship some :)

Thanks, they probably would be good w/ him. Jeff Rapps had them not too long ago.
I had a loisellei get that large female once. The tetra was swimming funny, looked like a swim bladder injury. I put that fish in the hospital tank, and in weeks she was normal again. Pretty tough fish. Also they are much faster then cichlids.
I’ll send you a PM.
