At the beginning of the video it says its the world largest fresh water fish. I always thought it was the arapamia(sp?)

arapaima grows longer but mekong cat grows heavier.

wow thats to bad. they should give some to the fish keeper and we can raise them tell they get to big. i would keep one. that sucks that so many animals are close to being gone for ever

well I don't know if mekong catfish are the biggest or not...

here are the biggest fish I know of

alligator gar (my fav.)
arapaima
nile perch (I know it is not the biggest)
european wels catfish (I think the biggest was 16 ft. and 700 or some lbs)
this is what I thought was the biggest was the beluga sturgeon and I read somewhere that they said the biggest was 26ft. long

Thats awesome. So the mekong catfish is the rarest fish in asia as it stands. Its rarer than the asian arowana since it only exists in one river, the mekong.

I think the mekong cat is currently farm bred by the millions for food.
