The extra depth is fun to play with. Gives you a lot more options.

Your tank looks great man and i agree, the pothos roots hanging down looks great. I have pothos in every tank because of that. With the kind of fish I keep, pothos unfortunately doesnt make a dent in the nitrates.

The Java fern is most likely what you are asking about. That is absolutely my favorite plant. You cant kill the bastards, they eat nitrates, and produce babies without fancy co2 systems. What more could you ask for?
