Went to the LFS yesterday in hopes of getting a new Vieja. Lucky they had 1 little Vieja Maculicauda(Black Belt) in stock. $4! Possible male too.
Unfortunatly out of the corner of my eye an amazing bulky little peach cichlid caught my eye with his long streaming fins and white eyes. PRICE CHECK PLEASE? $8. SOLD!

After 1 day of quarentine no signs of parasites or health problems in either fish. So I aclimate and add them to my 80gal this morning. My Paratheraps Fenestratus goes absolutely INSANE with aggression. Chasing them like they were his last meal. If the convict holds his ground hes fine, but the Fene just loves the chase.

So now im torn between keeping these new fish, or setting up the 55gal for just the Fene or letting the con and black belt get more settled befor reintroducing the Fene. Or just getting a new fish that wont have the Fene chasing him. I didnt realize he was so hostile. Im guessing he claimed the entire tank as his territory. Hes really not enjoying the 12gal either. Ohhh the fish conundrums I get myself into.
Advice and pictures of your Black Belts would be great.
Enjoy the tune. :cool-1:

Your fish look great, but be aware that a true quaratine should be a month long. Even two weeks (which is most commonly done) is inadequate because many parasites start to show their ugly colors right around 2 weeks.

Just a word to the wise... :)

Here is a video that you can see my black belt in it. It should give you an idea of how big they can get. As far as advice, get a large tank, keep up with water changes, keep him fed. That's about it.

I realized I should have quarentined longer, But I dont have a large stock im worried about losing. My JD is tough as nails. Just a risk I took in this case. I got too excited and only could hold out 24hours. :grinno:
As time goes by, this may become just the BB's home. Hes tinyyy now though.

Lowcel- Your tank is absolutely brilliant. Seems like it should be an absolute war zone, but everybody looks so peaceful, Even with fry in there. Great work. I with my Pink Fene could play nice with others.

Anybody ever go about forcing a friendship in anyway?
My Fene just loves chasing and he use to be so nice with other fish. Hes in time-out now. Im hoping the con can establish himself in the 80 and not take crap when the fene goes back in in maybee a week.
I was also thinking about putting them both in the 12gal where they are both uncomfortable and they would have to befriend eachother or it would be forced fight. I would supervise this of course. I was also considering removing all decor in my 80. This way there is always eye contact and no territorys and maybee this would get the fene to ease off. Im only concerned about the cons fins and the BB. He doesnt really care about the small BB, but when he gets fired up chasing the con he goes crazy trying to nip everything and the BB is just too small to deal with all that yet.
