I got the Azul Tuesday, here's a crappy little video from my Droid of him chewing his food. Also in tank are a biara, kelberi and kraussi w/ a firewood catfish (100 gallon grow out). 300 gallon tank in January .

I was told that he wouldn't eat dry food, but they also said that about the kelberi which eats krill now too. I have noticed the Azul show interest already in freeze dried krill and I have seen his belly look fuller when no feeders have been added. I'm hoping he will earn from kelberi and other fish to take the dry foods. Are any other of you Azul owners feeding fry foods and if so what?
 
I have 3 and they are all feeding on market shrimp stuffed with pellets. I tried fd krill, but they ignored it lol. All my other bass are on pellets.

I was told my biara and kelberi wouldn't take krill or dried food either, but they both do and i am hoping the Azul will learn from them. I put 75 grass shrimp in tank 1st 2 days and kelberi ate most but I could tell Azul got some. one the other days ( fed krill and I saw Azul show interest and his belly looked fuller, but I didnt see him actually take the krill I fed krill today and kelberis got his fill than I got 10 giant danios and some free tetras from my LFS because the other shops didnt have feeder shrimp because of the holidays. The azul ate 3 in about an hour. Haven't hit the tank w/ prazipro yet, but I plan too after weekly waterchanges on tuesday. So far Azul seems healthy and is visibly thicker since I got it. Now I need temensis, xingu and intermedia to make my cichla collection complete.
 
My azul that died from gill flukes was the healthier looking of the two. It also learned to eat pellets, it was fine for around 3 weeks and out of nowhere it wouldnt eat, had labored breathing, and died 3 days later. I would do the prazipro asap, I dosed my QT tank right before I added in my two new azuls last week.
 
what were your water conditions like? just got home from work and my Azul is looking nice and fat; I can't wait until his is as thick as my kelberi! Actually going to take out kraussi and add a much smaller f1 festae to that tank and do the prasiin the next day or so .
