vieja argentea - are they seriously this brutal?!?!?!?!

I picked up a vieja argentea a couple weeks ago. It is about 2.5".
I put him in my 90gal with a bunch of other fish waiting to go into the 180G I am setting up.
What a prick of a fish :irked:..... it has already ate the lips of a full grown geophagus steindachneri :eek:(they grew back quick, and he has not been bothered since), and has eaten a hole in the back of an 8 inch oscar!!

I knew they were aggressive when I picked it up, but this is unreal!!!:WHOA:

They look so fantastic when grown.... but I may have to get rid of him with the damage he is doing.... the rose queen would show him who's boss!!!:naughty:

Anyone near Hamilton, Ontario, want an argenta??????

u just happen to have a bad one.. Mines are really cool and dont fight anyone. yet.
 
Haha wow... 2.5"? That fish is a real ***h0l3!

My argentea is mean to everything (except my female lenticulata pike, hes scared of her) but he is THE MAN, lol. But man he does not wreck stuff like that he just nips and charges other fish.

I'd take the fish if you were closer to Edmonton! Lol.
 
Id hang on to that monster. He will be cut throat when hes an adult. He needs his own tank, or a bigger fish to teach him about pecking order. A Redhump geo or oscar doesnt really stand a chance agaist something that feisty, obviously.
 
yeah i mean im pretty sure most argentea have to kept alone as adults but thats the first i hear of them being that feisty at such a small size, my guy was still super shy at that stage, he is now about 5in and is still really chill, i mean he chases here and there but no real damage, but then he is housed with other aggressive cichlids, fish like geos and oscars just aren't on that level (unless you get one of those rare psycho Os)
 
wow, that sucks. I'd love to have an argentea but read of their aggressiveness. I thought it was mostly hype and was seriously looking into getting one...until now lol
