Vieja Argentea help/info

So i spotted one at a shop i went today, and was eager to buy it but i need more information on the fish.


How is the Vieja A's Temper?, Will it get along peaceful SA cichlids such as sevrums?

Like any large cichlid persoanlities vary. They can be bullies but more so to other Veija sp. not as bad to other species. They are a beautiful and cool fish that get over a foot long. Make sure to feed them high vegitable matter food.

my little 3"er just recently started becoming aggressive towards a few tankmates that swamp him/her in size.

I have had terrible luck with Argentea and Sev's..I think body shape has something to do with it.

While mine wouldn't mess with my smaller pikes, the other S/A's were fair game to it. Same as sick_lid's experience, even at 3" he was chasing the other cichlids. Until they learned to stay behind the pikes. While amusing watching him try to sneak around the pikes, only to be flared at and chased off, I seperated him out alone to avoid stress.

Because the most agressive cichlids will harm or kill your argentae. Add Devils/Midas to that list too.

My aregentea will fight anyone in the tank. I just think it depends on each individual fish and its personallity.

You've got that backwards bro. Argentea are a large aggressive CA cichlid. Hence keep them with other large aggressive CA or SA cichlids. Severums are out.

I've kept mine with fish like midas, festae, carpintis, gold saum, red bay snook, etc. He doesn't mess with larger fish (get's picked on sometimes) but is in the process of trying to kill my 8-9" umbee so he's got to be divided.
