Hello everyone, I am getting a used 100G from my cousin and the Vieja Argentea is the main fish that I want to put in that tank. A firm company for it will be a royal pleco. I am just wondering if there is any other cichlid that I can keep in the same tank. I understand that due to Argentea's aggression, it is hard to find suitable tank mates. However, if any experts here have keep it with some other cichlid succesfully, please kindly let me know. The tank is also probably not big enough for the argentea to get a tank mate. Thanks in advanced for any help:) .

Best regards,

Plenty of room for another cichlid. They only get 12". Other probably tank mates would be, Jaguar, Oscar, Flowerhorn, pretty much rough, cichlids.

Red Tiger Motaguense! Max size is 12" but they have plenty of attitude and the best looking guapote

V. argentea really don't like conspifics (fish that look similar). I'd say it's too small for breeding, but you can definitely keep cichlids that don't have a similar body shape or color (avoid other Viejas)

Mine rips on a V. regani, but leaves the rest of my fish alone for the most part (H. carpintis "Escondido", A. robertsoni, C. myersi, A. festae).

Very cool fish.

I tried a GT with mine, and the Vieja was rutheless towards him. He ignores the Oscar he is in with now, but there is a large size difference, so I will see how that works out when the Oscar starts to get bigger.

Have you thought about trying a non-cichlid? My Argentea ignores all the fish he is with (see my signature.)

Thanks for the help guys. How does this stocking list sound?

1 Vieja Argentea
2 Oscar or Jack Dempsey
3 Royal Pleco
4 Polypterus delhezi

Man, I wish I have a 5 to 600 gallon tank then I wouldn't have to worry much about stocking list. Thanks again for all your help.

Best regards,
