My tank is currently a 210 gallon 84"x24"x24" and I have no issues with aggression between my cichlids. I'd like to upgrade and came across a 250 gallon 60"x36"x27", it's a lot shorter but with more depth so I'm unsure if it's suitable for my fish.

Input? Thanks

I agree, longer the better as it gives more opportunity for sight breaks. But wide is also a decent way to go, as long as the footprint is increased and the gallonage isn't going to height.
But if I already had a 7'' tank, and wanted to upgrade the cichlids, I wouldn't want to decrease the length.

I really would not consider the 210 to 250, much of an upgrade, especially with the reduced length.
It might be a great adjunct for when some of the Vieja outgrow the 210, in the 250 could maybe fit 3 adult Vieja.

Personally I much prefer wider tanks, vieja aren't the most agile of fish so when they get some size I think they do better in wider tanks.
