I called a lfs and asked if they had any type if vieja and they said no.. So when I got to the store I saw these guys labeled as synspilium cichlid... I know they're small but does anyone know if they look like young synpilium? Also do wild and f1 lend up looking much better than common ones?

Those could be small synspilum. Most Paratheraps look similar when young so there is no 100% way to tell.

Modest_Man is correct these are juvi synspilums. I am certain on this even though Paratheraps on some occasions are difficult to distinguish at young age as ^^^ said.
