They're more territorial than aggressive.Tough one, does look more like a Het than a Bifa to me but could probably be either when you account for locale differences in individual fish. What is their temperament like? Bifasciatus are supposed to be more aggressive than Hets.

They're spawning at the moment. Actually with free swimmers. I got them from a friend and his wholesaler is Nautilus Aquatics in Fl. I was also told it was their catch local as well, Rio grijalva. My other bifas are from Rio ChacamaxThose look like spawning colors to me, which can be different than normal coloration, and looks like what yours are doing.
Of course if you bought them from a LFS instead of a reputable cichlid vendor, they could just be hybrids.
Here is an example of how Vieja change colors when spawning
Below a normal color male V breidhori
Now, a pair in mating/spawning colors
another example, because this happens with many cichlids

TyThey look a lot like some of the so called veija macracanthus.
These are naturally occurring hybrids that turn up from time to time.
Your collection location adds up as these are believed to be crosses between hartwegi /macracanthus and/or briedori /macracanthus.
As Duanes has mentioned, there are many hybrids in the hobby so they could be anything but they do very much resemble the conveniently named veija macracanthus.
