Hey all,
I’m new to South American Cichlids and I bought this Vieja a few months ago along. At the moment it’s being housed with a rainbow Cichlid , blood parrot, and a flowerhorn. I know I know... flowerhorns can be aggressive but they have been together for 4 months now and they are still alive. Anyways does anybody have an idea of which Vieja he/she might be? How it’s going to look when it gets older? Btw they are all housed in a 105 gallon tall tank.

Sorry if the pictures aren’t that great.

It’s hard to say at that size. What did you buy it as?

Few other things:

1. They are CA cichlids.
2. Watch the flowerhorn. It will get aggressive. Just because things are fine now, doesn’t mean they always will be. The FH will get aggressive w/ age.

If you don't know the province then you might never know, there are lots that it could be, zonatus, guttulatus, Coatzacoalcos/ coatlicue, Fenestratus to name a few.

Zonatus or Coatzacoalcos was going to be my guess too. Vieja can be tricky to ID as juvies. Post some more pics when you've got a couple more inches on it

Agree with Dan518, I have kept zonatas, guttalatus, and fenestratus, among other Vieja and at the age you have, they all look very similar to those I kept
