I was wondering what to feed my new fish? he/she is a Blackbelt and is about 3-4" long. i've been feeding frozen brine shrimp, hikari cichlid gold, and sichlid staple but doesnt seem to be growing much at all. If anyone has some advice please let me know what you think would help most with growth

WELCOME to MFK my friend.

From my experience, Vieja don't grow very fast.

My best success with Blackbelt has come from a varied diet, lots of water changes, and smaller tankmates. Other than that, no magic to it. I have a 7" Vieja Argentea that loves frozen peas. I feed those and pellets and it seems to be thriving.

feed a lot of veggies, as for pellets, use a well balanced pellet and Omega One Super Kelp pellets, it is the best veggie based pellet.

The guys advice is correct, varied diet and plenty of water changes.

You say it's a new fish, how long have you had it? Has it grown that size since you've had it or was it that size when you brought it?

It can take up to 2 years for some vieja/paratheraps to reach their full potential.
